My days off in Guanacaste, Costa Rica

1 Mar

I am sitting here at the pool in my friend’s house in Guanacaste-Costa Rica, enjoying a relax time, so I decided to share a little bit of my trip pictures so you can see how beautiful this country is and also get some info if you decide to have a weekend trip here.
To begin with, I drove to Guanacaste from Santa Ana, it took me about 4 hours. The road is great if you don’t take the shortcut I took. Fortunately, there is nice people that helped me with my flat tire I got in that road.
Driving directions: If you are coming from Santa Ana, you can take the new road, 27, and drive until the end which will throw you to the 131 road. There you just need to drive for an hour or so, until you see a bull outside a restaurant. It is super big, you won’t miss it. You need to turn left on that corner and drive for anoter 40-60 minute. You’ll cross a very well known bridge called “Puente de la Amistad”. Then you’ll get to a point you’ll require to turn or left or right.
You have to take it right towards a town name Santa Cruz, and then when you pass it and reach to Belen town, you’ll require to turn left in a gas station you’ll find in that town.
Important to consider, when you get to Santa Cruz, you’ll see a sign that will indicate to turn left for Playa Tamarindo, that’s the shorcut I took, because in KM is less; however you will damage your car and you might need to drive very slow, because that road is very sleepery. Just be careful if you decide to take that road.
Places to go: There are plenty of great beaches to spend a day, such a Playa Langosta, Playa Grande, Playa Conchal, Avellanas, Bahia Piratas, etc.
Musts: Watch the sunset from the beach or in a boat road, have a red snapper in “La Palapa” restaurant, have a day in Langosta beach, there is a part we called it “El Estero” that is very relaxed and seems like a pool. Lovely place.
Places to stay: For all budgets, since Barcelo in Playa Langosta, Hilton in Flamingo, or Tamarindo Diria in the downtown Tamarindo, or budget places such as “Botella de leche”. I stayed there once and I liked it. It is clean,
Backpackers relaxed mood.
You can find some references in Lonely Planet which is like my bible for trips.
Leave you some pics for you to enjoy:
